Do you ever feel like you have this untapped potential but something is keeping it from being expressed? Like the ideas and desires are there, but there isn't enough energy or oomph to launch them off the ground. There could be a variety of reasons why and I wanted to take a look at one of them together now.

The dreaded F word fear. Fear is a likely culprit for holding you back. On the lack and limitation side, it could be fear of failing, looking dumb or less than fear of being exposed. You can absolutely insert the dreaded impostor syndrome here, like you're going to be found out that you're really not that good. There's fear of losing money, losing reputation, likes followers, the list really can go on and on. And on the flip side, there's fear of success. And all the BS that comes with that fear of being alone at the top. Fear, you won't have enough time to enjoy life if you really make it, fear you might burn out if you do what it takes to succeed, fear your partner or family might get jealous or want to take advantage of your hard work. I'm sure you've experienced one or all of the above. I know I have. It's a normal part of the human experience.

In many ways, the brain is doing a good job at keeping us safe. Think of it as a loyal diehard manning its post with strict orders to scan for threats 24/7, or else. It's your life preserving mechanism. But when this behavior starts to be the dominant operating system, we have to take back the reins and shift our perspective. And moreover, shift our course of action.

Remember what I call the Mindset Cascade. If that term is new to you, I'll drop the link where to go. I have a couple of resources where I dive deeper into detail on that subject. But in essence, the Mindset Cascade is where our thoughts control our emotions, which in turn govern our actions or non actions and then ultimately determine our results. And it comes to play here as well. Fear is an emotion that arises when we think we are in danger. In fact, the actual definition of fear is "an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat." That belief may be true or untrue - fact or fiction. Our nervous system reacts the same. That's hard to believe, but it does.

When you think about the common fears that I just mentioned; Fear of being exposed or failing through that lens. What comes up for you? Will you die if your launch fails? Is there a life threat if you rise to the top and have to deal with potential changes? Of course not. That's just silly. But the mind doesn't know if the threat is real or imaginary and can paralyze you just the same to keep you safe.

But here's the thing CEO, you are safe. Let me repeat that. You are safe. Take a deep breath with me here and let it soak into your cells as truth.

Okay, if you allow yourself to fall victim to the mind, if you allow yourself to be suppressed by "what ifs" you will be holding back delivering the gifts that you came here to share and deny the world the opportunity to experience only that which you have to give. I believe that we are all unique emanations of our Creator. And I'm passionate about self actualization and helping others do the same.

Abraham Harold Maslow comes to mind here. He was an American psychologist and created the hierarchy of needs. You've probably come across this in one way or another. Picture a pyramid divided into five rows. The base layer is the psychological needs category things like oxygen, water, food, shelter, our basics. Next up are the safety needs personal security, health resources. One row up in the middle there is love and belonging. So our connections. The next is esteem, dignity, respect, freedom. And at the top of that pyramid, the most fulfilling category is self actualization, the desire to become the most that we can be. Maslow told us about the importance of actualizing our potential, and fact he said, "What one can be, one must be." I love that, quote. I feel a newfound power in it, every time I see it or say it, "What one can be, one must be." Whoaah!!

What must you be, dear listener?
Kc Rossi 6:07
I want to pause here and make the distinction between being and doing. The question isn't, what must you do? Are slinky mind can convince us that if we do more, that things will naturally fall into place. And that just isn't. So think of being energy as life force. Being doesn't require pushing, squeezing, or attachment. Being is a state and identity, a sole power? So we'll ask you the question again, and invite you to deeply contemplate on the answer. What must you be Maslow also told us that at any given moment, we have a choice, we can step forward into growth, or we can step back into safety, we can step forward into growth or back into safety.

Think of something that you have on your plate right now. I know with the tip of fourth quarter just getting kicked off. And it doesn't matter when you're listening to this. I know we always have a tremendous to do list. But I think there's a special amount of pressure to salvage the here or have a winning Q4. And so when you think about something that's on your plate right now, are you stepping towards it? Or shrinking up away from it? Are you silencing your minds chatter? And "what if" talk or are you letting your mind hold you back and convince you that if you play small, you'll be safe.

This is powerful stuff.
