We're talking about something important and fun today. How to plan for a stellar fourth quarter. This is the last stretch of the year, my friend. And if you want to end with profits and confidence, you need to get intentional right now. Let's break it down so you can finish the year strong.
Q4 is often overshadowed by the hustle of back to school, shifting gears for the holidays, and the general whirlwind of year-end busyness. But this final quarter is golden. It is the time to reflect on what's worked, pivot on what hasn't, and take strategic action to close the year with a bang. Now, some people wait until the first of the year to do this audit, but because you're listening to this; a Baddie boss who's striving to run a business that's heart-centered, aligned, and profitable, I know that you're a part of the top 10% that like to get a handle on things and optimize, so now is the perfect time to review and capture the final 25% of your year and earning potential.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:01:39 Let's get real. Maybe you've been treading water and managing all the details, but feel like you could do more. You're ready to gain clarity, but you need a roadmap for this last leg of the race, I get it. Life can be challenging, and sometimes it feels like you get knocked down again before you even have a chance to rebound from the first hit. There is a tremendous amount of time, love, money, and energy that goes into something worthwhile and your business is no exception.
With Q4 just around the corner, it's easy to let time slip away. But that's exactly why right now is the time to get ahead. It's not about doing more. It's about focusing on the right things, simplifying where needed, and being intentional about what will move the needle. Whether you're already riding the wave of momentum or need to restart after a tough Q3 - this is your moment. Without a game plan, Q4 can become a blur of scattered energy. You might find yourself overwhelmed by the rush of the season, coasting from one day to the next while your business takes a backseat to everything else.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:02:53 But you can shift that! When you're proactive instead of reactive you can control how you finish this year and set yourself up for more abundance, joy, and fulfillment. Yes, please!!
So let's look at four key pillars to a successful Q4 plan.
1. The very first one is to review and reflect, because unless we know where we've been, we can't really, truly have a game plan to where we want to go. So start by conducting a comprehensive Q1 to Q3 review. What worked? What didn't? Which strategies brought you closer to your goals and which ones drained your energy? For conscious leaders, it's not just about looking at the numbers, it's about feeling into what activities felt aligned with your deeper purpose. Get clear on what will make this quarter feel both profitable and fulfilling.
I encourage you to not rush this proces. Brew your favorite beverage and carve out a deep work block to dive in.
So the invitation is to pull up your analytics, see where you had the most ROI, and make a note of it.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:04:10 If your metrics averse and no judgment, I was too. For years, just take a deep breath and know that you can do this. Acknowledge your avoidance and proceed. You've got this. Remember to look at what losses occurred. And I don't just mean financial losses, I also mean loss of time or client interest. Then think about what brought you the most joy. Which projects or people let you up? Make a note of that.
Lastly, tune into where there was resistance and where there was flow, and you can tell there was resistance if you procrastinated. If you got a physical sensation of constriction in your body, if you had a lot of mental rumination, like just over and over again, where you were resistant to take action and you stayed in your head for a long time, those are kind of symptoms and signs of resistance and flow. I think we all know what flow feels like, but just to contrast it, it's when we're expanded, when there is an easiness, when you are in a project for longer than you thought and you look at their time and you're like, oh my gosh, I can't believe 3 or 4 hours went by.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:05:26 That's a great sign of when you are in flow. Another sign or symptom of flow is when you've been doing a project for a long time, but you still actually have energy. That's a great sign that you are in your zone of genius. And things just felt aligned. They were fluid. You were on purpose. You were in that sweet spot. So just tune in to the times in your last three quarters where there was that resistance or crunchiness and procrastination, and where there was that expansion, fluidity, and energy. Capture those details and have a list of these three categories. Your metrics. What brought you joy? Where were the losses and where were the resistance? And flow?
Next is setting your intentions. Once you reviewed your list, it's time to get laser-focused. Set no more than three key objectives for Q4. The key is focusing on the few items that hit the trifecta of ROI, joy, and flow. Perhaps you only have one in this sweet spot, and that is completely fine.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:06:32 Less is more, and having a concise focus will help you avoid burnout and ensure you, by the year's end, that you're feeling accomplished and satisfied. These objectives should stretch you but be realistic enough to hit within three months.
I know that this is often challenging for my high-performing achievers like you. We tend to have a laundry list of objectives, but I really want to encourage you to keep it minimal. 1 or 3 at most. For example, let's say you have this desire to increase your email list by 20%. Launch a new service offering or get more visible on social media. I invite you to choose the one that feels most aligned and energizing, and then make that your top priority. Lastly, create a tactical plan because we know that if we just write things out, have lists upon lists, are super Uber organized in our journal, but then we don't put in the tactical part. It's just going to sit into piles of this amazing inspiration but not bring you results, not bring you the profits that you desire.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:07:47 So this step is really important, breaking down each of those objectives into bite-sized weekly actions. It's not enough to set goals. You need to map out the HOW behind achieving them. This is where having a structured tactical plan will make all the difference. Prioritize your time, batch tasks, and delegate anything that drains your energy. And yes, even if you're a solopreneur, delegation is possible through outsourcing.
So for example, if your goal is to launch a new service, your plan might include finalizing your offer by the first week of October, building your sales page by the second, and promoting it through social and email marketing by week three.
So you can kind of see there's still step-by-step, bite-size actionable plans in your goal, but you're really just focusing on that one big, most important thing.
All right, I've got a free Thrive Planner. It's a simple but powerful one sheet to help your day be set up to win the day, to thrive. There is an overall goal section, and then there is a spot for your top three MITs (most important things) that align to that main objective.
This will help you stay on track. I'll drop a link to this free one-sheet. You can grab it in the show notes.
All right then we have this idea or this concept of embracing the energy of completion. There is something so powerful about finishing things. I'm a big fan of closing loops, whether it's an energy loop, communication loop, or to-do list that's been hanging over my head. I don't doubt that you juggle many plates and it's easy to leave projects half done. I mean, we all have these projects. I mean, my hand is raised for that too. We just start things, we get excited, and then like something else becomes shiny or there's a fire or whatever. But I really want to personally make Q4 the quarter of completion and also want you right there by my side, doing the exact same thing - tying up loose ends, clearing out mental clutter, and finishing projects that will make us feel again accomplished and satisfied. I know personally a reoccurring task that I feel so much better going into the new year once buttoned up, is my accounting. So one of my personal goals is to have it complete and ready to go by Jan.
So back to you, that free lead magnet that you started but never finished complete it. The bookkeeping task that's been hanging over your head. Check it off. Completion creates momentum and will propel you into the new year with confidence. It will make such an amazing difference to not feel behind the eight ball when people are ringing in the new year. We really want to be able to celebrate.
All right, as you plan for Q4, remember that your energy is your greatest asset and my advice is to guard your energy like a CEO. With the holidays and personal commitments creeping in, it's important to safeguard your boundaries. Say NO to anything that doesn't align with your goals, and make self-care non-negotiable. When you're grounded and nourished, you'll have more to give to yourself, to your business, and to everyone else around you. And a little side note here if you're a natural caregiver, self-care may be a challenge for you.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:11:24 I was talking with a client the other day, and I was asking her about her self-care, and she was like, well, I'm okay for the moment. I'm not sinking. She was visibly uncomfortable when I was talking to her about this and actually look like tears were welling up. I invited her to listen to her language and asked what it would look and feel like if she didn't wait to fill her own cup up until she was drowning. What would it feel like to float? She immediately went into a list that involved helping other people, her staff, husband, and special needs child. Isn't that interesting?
So if you can relate to that, my friend, I especially want you to think about just you - the glorious, magnificent human that you are. This doesn't mean that we negate helping others, but it does mean that we actually take a moment to say to ourselves really deeply and mean it and feel it, that I matter too, I matter too… schedule in time to just be, to float, to fill back up.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:12:30 As a multi-passionate, creative entrepreneur you get to design your path. Q4 is the perfect time to recalibrate, strategize and go all in on ending the year with intention.
