What if the very thing you're resisting is your soul's greatest calling? Today we're exploring what it means to live courageously in alignment with your soul's purpose. If you felt a persistent nudge to step into something different, this episode will help you shed fear and embrace your next level with intention.
Similar to the Hero's Journey, which I did a complete episode on, and will link it in the show notes. One of the first steps in change is *Recognizing the Call.* Here are a couple of signs you're ready for change.
Number one: Restlessness Despite Success. Have you felt this? I have. Despite having a full client roster in years past when it was heavy on mental work, implementation work for others and to-do lists, I was restless.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:01:27 I knew that I was meant to have more of an impact, meant to help others transform, not just outsource my brain and do the busy work. What about you?
Number two: Repeating Themes or Synchronicities. Do you have phrases or themes that are on repeat? For me, light leadership is pouring in more and more. I stumbled across a video that I recorded in 2021, all about the feminine rising and light leadership. It felt as relevant today as when I produced it. I had the same full passion for the subject. Think for a minute. Do you have a recurring idea, thought, or phrase that keeps circling around and then back around again? Pay attention to that.
And lastly, the third sign that you're ready for change is a deep inner knowing that you have more to give. When you're really honest with yourself. Do you think that you have more to give? I met with a friend the other day, and she shared that she knows that she is not working at full capacity, that in reality, she's been coasting at about 80% of her ability.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:02:42 I felt this way before. Have you?
When you hear the call, there is a braveness that is asking to be seen and heard. Coasting no longer becomes tolerable.
So here's an action step that I invite you to take. Pop out your journal and write this question up at the top.
“What is my soul asking me to step into now, even if it feels uncertain?”
And you can press pause and just see what bubbles up and just write with no shame or censoring. Just let whatever is bubbling up pour out of you. And if now's not a good time, you're on the treadmill or you're driving. You can always go back to the transcript of this episode and journal on this question.
“What is my soul asking me to step into right now, even if it feels uncertain?”
Next is fear. This can be a huge stumbling block, especially if we are navigating or considering navigating bold moves. That emotion can and does even creep in with minor shifts too, so do not beat yourself up to normalize fear.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:03:58 We all have fear. It's programmed into our nervous system since birth or before. It helps keep us safe. It is one of our basic survival instincts. It's just that over time learned, real or imagined, fear can feel big and hard to overcome.
I attended a master class this week all about flower essences that combat fear. Before we got into the plant medicine that can support being fearless, we spent almost an hour talking all about all the kinds of fear. And let me tell you, it was overwhelming just reviewing the list. Everything from fear of being alone to fear of having someone hear you pee. I experienced a surge of compassion as I allowed myself to pause and examine my own fears, and also as I saw other people's comments about their experience with fear, some debilitating.
Let's look at a couple of ways to navigate fear with grace. The very first one is reframing fear. And you, my dear listener, know the power of mindset. Reframing fear will help immensely. If you look at fear as a stop sign.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:05:17 Then it's going to be a natural reaction to freeze or to flee, because it's like it's halting you. What, I would love to invite you to look at it as is a guidepost, a sign at the intersection of your life. It's your choice if you want to move forward into growth or step back into safety.
But reframing fear that fear is not a stop sign, but a guidepost is going to serve you.
The other thing is naming the fear. Identify what scares you and the worst-case scenario. And a lot of times this may feel like the monster under the bed. Like we just don't want to look. We just want to cover our eyes and be in denial because there is this fear that if we look, it may even be bigger and badder that we possibly are even afraid of. And we know that that's not true. So a pro tip when you are identifying what scares you in the worst-case scenario? Is to keep asking what is the worst-case scenario about that? And when you have an answer, ask again.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:06:30 And what is the worst-case scenario about that? Because this helps you whiz past surface answers and get to the real root of the fear. So don't be afraid to continue to peel back the layers. Continue to peel back the layers like it may be. For an example, your initial fear might be I don't want to be in the spotlight. Okay, well, what's the worst-case scenario about being in the spotlight? Well, if I'm if I'm in the spotlight, then I will look egotistical. Okay. What's the worst-case scenario about looking egotistical? Well, if I look egotistical, then no one's going to want to be around me. Okay. Then what's the worst-case scenario about no one wanting to be around you? Well, I'll be afraid of being alone. So you can kind of see that's just like one example off the top of my head, that when you continue to peel back the layers, you have this clarity and clarity is power. And when you know the root, you are better able to acknowledge it and dissolve it.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:07:39 So don't be afraid of going deep because that is where transformation lies.
For my high achieving, visionary leaders an effective tool is to reverse visualize. It seems counterintuitive, but when impact and service are parts of your mission, this technique works.
So picture life five years from now if you don't answer the call.
Again, best to put me on pause or go back to the episode's transcript -when you're curled up on your favorite chair with journal in hand. But don't just let this be mind candy, I really invite you to get the kinesthetic quality of using pen to paper and taking more than 30 seconds to really visualize and write down and journal. What would life look like in five years if you don't answer the call? If you're just working at 80% or less capacity, if you just continue to choose to coast and let fear be a stop sign?
Okay, now that you've got some data from the invitations and journal prompts, you should be armed to know what your soul is calling you to do and what the future might look like if you ignore the call.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:08:56 Next, it's about crafting a bold action plan.
Step one clarify your vision. Define what different looks like. This is really important because I think oftentimes when we're ready to pivot, it feels like we have to do this complete 180. It's happened to me too, where it's just like, oh my gosh, I'm unsatisfied. Maybe now I should go be and it's like this completely different thing. But when I take a pause and I take a breath and I get perspective and I'm like, okay, calm down, what is it that you really want to change? Oftentimes it's just a couple of degrees. It's just a couple of degrees of a shift.
So maybe you're a health coach now and you'd like to specialize in supporting women in perimenopause. Same field just with a narrowed niche. Or maybe it is a hard right in a completely different lane, say, from a corporate executive to a creative artist. Both are welcome. Just drill down to clarify how you want your future to look.
Step two micro brave steps.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:10:01 Identify one small, fearless action you can take today. Just one. And it doesn't have to be huge. Think “micro” action.
Step three soul aligned support. Surround yourself with high-vibrational allies, mentors, or a coach who holds you to your highest potential. This step is often overlooked, but we were not meant to go on this journey alone. People not only need people, but transformation requires direction and accountability.
