Why wouldn’t I have a Plan B? Read to find out…
I’m guessing most people cherish security.
Am I right?
I’m a Taurus. The one zodiac sign that craves security throughout life, love, and business. However, being a solopreneur is not always secure. It can be quite the opposite.
I’m here to tell you that it’s OK. It’s more than OK and here’s why.
Because when you have a Plan B in business you get lax.
Yep, it’s true.
It happens to the best of us. It’s much easier to let our fears rule our actions. Fear of being seen, fear of not being good enough, fear of rejection, etc.
If we have an alternate route, one that has less fear associated with it, 9 times out of 10 we are going to take it.
If we have a significant other that can financially support the homestead when we are trying to figure it out, most likely we aren’t going to be that motivated to pick up the phone and make those 10 cold calls per day.
If we are lucky enough to start with a nice, fat nest egg to launch from, do you think we are going to push through obstacles in the same way as if we gunning to pay next month’s mortgage? Probably not.
Even though I adore security, not having a backup plan when it comes to business forces us to overcome our fears and just do it.
The fact that you are fully invested in your idea, your business, and ultimately yourself is the daily impetus to meet challenges with a fierceness, a hunger that would not exist if you had a safety net.
Let’s face it, we all want to diversify our solopreneur portfolio, and I’m all for that! I have experience with putting all my eggs in one basket. I’ve also had endeavors where the bottom fell out, and you don’t quickly forget feelings of loss and dismay.
I don’t want that for you, and I don’t want to experience that again either.
I think there is a difference between having multiple streams of income as an entrepreneur, and thinking that you can always go back to your 9–5-day job if things go South.
Be the visionary of your life.
Having faith and fortitude to forge your way with 100% conviction in your success can set you apart from being a “casual entrepreneur.”
Having NO PLAN B makes us work harder.Having NO PLAN B makes us pivot when things aren’t working vs. wanting to throw in the towel.Having NO PLAN B is the easiest way to carve a path to success.
Because…you not only want to be a successful business owner, you NEED it.
Survival in business is much like in the wild.
It’s the ones that rely on their basic instincts to thrive in an ever-changing, competitive environment that rise to the top and control their destiny.
I challenge you to think about your business drive right now.
Are you committed to your business in a way that your existence depends on it? That may sound extreme, but in reality, if you are just coasting, at some point someone hungrier is going to feast on your dinner.
Do you believe you should have a Plan B in business?
