When you feel like you’re not enough, read on for some encouragement.
Truth: You are enough.
It’s a common fear that who we are, and what we have to offer is not enough. How we are hardwired to avoid rejection, the way we were raised, and even playing the comparison game, all play a part of this debilitating belief. The belief in “not-enoughness.”
Feeling not enough is paralyzing.
When we are stuck in feeling less than, it paralyzes us from taking action, moving forward, and sharing our talents. It’s almost like PTSD in the way that we can’t seem to get past the thoughts of not being good enough, thin enough, smart enough, rich enough, etc. I’ve seen this pattern gobble up years of people’s lives (including mine). And it’s senseless.
What really is enough?
Who says when enough is enough? There isn’t some superpower that reigns overhead with a checklist and cloke. I believe it’s the inner critique within us all that repeats the mind tape filled with unworthiness tracks. And since the mind can be reprogrammed, and we are the programmer, then why not take advantage and reverse some of those old thoughts.
Imagine waking up and replacing the following thoughts:
Old Thought: I just don’t think I have what it takes to get this project off the ground.
New Thought: I can’t wait to jump into this project, and really bring some creativity to it.
Old Thought: I don’t know, so and so does this a lot better than I could.
New Thought: I’m ready to share my unique gifts — let’s do this!
Old Thought: I’m so afraid of what people will think.
New Thought: I am here for a reason — it’s time to serve.
Old Thought: Who’s going to want to listen to what I’ve got to say.
New Thought: I give myself permission to be seen and heard.
We get to define enough.
Each day, we can choose how we are going to show up in the world — to our friends, family, co-workers, clients, and even strangers. I’m a big believer of Kaizen — the Japanese philosophy of never-ending improvement. With that mindset, if we are doing our best, and have the consciousness to enhance or improve based on experiences, then we can’t go wrong. Ever!
Your fingerprint gives you access.
Your fingerprint is unique. Just as your life experiences are. All of your education, your successes, your losses, your joys, and your sorrows define who you are. When you are ready to launch your next big idea, remember your past will serve you. Even pain has gifted us with positive character traits (resilience, fortitude, forgiveness).
Think of your fingerprint as your secret access to the door within. Once it’s scanned, you safely enter into endless possibilities.
I believe that you have everything you need within you to shine. And that my friend is enough. In fact, it’s more than enough.
Until next time…breathe joy,
Kc
